17 Exotic Swimmers raced from the House Reef to the beach 500m raising $500 for sharks. 15 of the swimmers were Filipinos including the winner Tito. Exotic Divers Owner Dioscora Macabale who founded the Dive Centre in 1997 also swam on the day. With 15 of the swimmers Filipinos everyone enjoyed local dish Pancit Canton afterwards to celebrate.
“Here at Exotic we are passionate about sharks! Most of our divers visiting us here in Malapascua are here because of the Thresher sharks at Monad Shoal, and who can blame them? This is the only place on earth where we have nearly daily encounters of this beautiful shark at only 20 metres depth! So of course we want to do our part for protecting our beautiful sharks!” said Exotic Island Manager Rebecca Johanson.
Tommy Jenson who sponsored the Exotic Island team said “I had the most wonderful majestic experience diving with the thresher sharks of Malapascua. I’ll gladly make a donation to help protect this beautiful species and all shark species.” Thanks to everyone who has donated to support the cause.
