  • Work together with a common goal for the region/industry for an overall growth
  • Try new things such as video and measurable data mining

What better way to finish of this empowering event in the tropical island Bali, with a social in the sunset amongst palm trees around the pool area with some good food and beverages. After a few days of great presentations and workshops, you could feel the excitement!

PADI Self-Reliant Diver Specialty Instructor Application

2 Jun

self-reliant-diver

The purpose of the Self-Reliant Diver distinctive specialty course is to recognize and accept the role of the buddy system and its contributions to diver safety while identifying and developing self-reliance and independence while diving. We strive to process all Specialty Instructor applications promptly, however they are occasionally delayed due to missing documentation.

Since its release the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Specialty has become very popular with our members. To ensure your application is processed as quickly as possible we want to take this opportunity to remind you of some administrative requirements.

All Self-Reliant Diver Specialty Instructor applications, regardless of whether you have completed an Instructor course with a PADI Specialty Instructor Trainer or you are applying directly to PADI, require you to have certified at least 25 PADI divers and have proof of having logged 20 self-reliant dives (e.g. dives using redundant equipment and following techniques of self-reliance). In addition you must be a PADI Self-Reliant Diver or PADI TecRec Diver, or have a qualifying certification from another training organization. If submitting prerequisite certifications from other organizations, make sure that copies of these are attached to the application. Acceptable documentation includes a copy of both sides of the certifying organization’s certification card or wall certificate or a letter on the certifying organization’s letterhead verifying the certification.

This requirement is different to other Specialties, in most other cases if you complete a Specialty Instructor course with an IT you do not need the 25 certified diver and only 10 logged dives. These additional requirements were put in place to ensure the applicants for the PADI Self-Reliant Diver Specialty Instructor rating have ample experience before teaching this program.

As always if you have any questions in regards to your Specialty Instructor application and the prerequisites please contact a Regional Training Consultant via email at training-sales@padi.com.au.
