As every diver knows, it’s nearly impossible to describe the underwater world in mere words. And while there’s nothing like actually being there, a great underwater video can enchant even the stodgiest land-lubber. So PADI has partnered with GoPro to incentivize divers to create and share underwater videos.
Divers who upload a video to YouTube or Vimeo and post it to ScubaEarth will be eligible to win a new GoPro Hero3+ with underwater housing, mount, and two filters. A new winner will be selected each month from February through July 2014.
Here are the specific details of how to enter:
1. Divers sign in or create a free account at scubaearth.com
2. Upload the scuba video to YouYube or Vimeo and copy the link.
3. Post the video to the media gallery by clicking the Media Upload button
4. Send a message to the ScubaEarth Community Manager* with a link to the video.
5. A new winner will be chosen each month from February through July 2014. ScubaEarth members can enter up to two videos per month – and yes, PADI Pros are eligible to enter!
Videos should be no more than 5 minutes in length and promote the scuba diver lifestyle including topside and/or underwater highlights of a dive destination including, but not limited to, underwater animal life and divers exploring the underwater world. Videos that include footage of divers touching marine life or the reef, including artificial reefs such as wrecks, will be disqualified.
For additional details, including the official rules, visit scubaearth.com/goprovideo.
* Every ScubaEarth member is automatically associated with the ScubaEarth Community Manager, but if you are such a popular diver that you can’t find the Community Manager amongst all your buddies, use the search box to locate the Community Manager’s profile.
PADI’s Live the Diving Dream contest was held from July 2013 to 31st December 2013, awarding monthly prizes of an Apple iPad to six new PADI Divemasters in the Asia Pacific territory.
The six winners in the contest were Phil Voss from Singapore, Ellie Davidson from Exmouth, Western Australia, Oliver Furlow from Thailand, Felix Daun from Singapore, Tyson White from Merewether Heights, NSW and Soung Nam Cha from Republic of Korea.
On completion of their PADI Divemaster course during the competition period, contestants were required to tell us what they enjoyed about the course to gain a chance to win a prize.
Here’s what a few of the winners had to say on becoming a PADI Divemaster:
“Meeting new people who are interested in the same activity as you and to see how they get fascinated by the same things as yourself – is the greatest feeling about being a PADI Divemaster.” Felix Daun
“I knew this course would improve my diving knowledge, but I must say I didn’t think I would be at the level I am now. Going further, my new goal is to complete the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor course soon, something I didn’t think I could do before.” Tyson White
“Being able to help others enjoy diving was a real buzz! That’s what diving is all about; fun and enthusiasm! Being a PADI Divemaster means that I can assist others to experience something I love, and promote their love for diving too.” Ellie Davidson
Congratulations to SOUNG NAM CHA – winner for December 2013
PADI’s Live the Diving Dream contest was held from the month of July to 31st December 2013, awarding monthly prizes of an Apple iPad to six new PADI Divemasters in the Asia Pacific territory.
The winner in the contest for December 2013 was SOUNG NAM CHA from Incheon, Republic of Korea who completed his PADI Divemaster course at Aqua Marine Dive Centre in Seoul, a PADI 5 Star Instructor Development Center and PADI Career Development Centre. Soung Nam’s winning entry reads..
“It was a hard course, but at the same time I realised that scuba diving is very much a fun sport, especially when we share it with many people as a lifestyle.
I learnt during the PADI Open Water, Advanced and Rescue Diver courses the importance of mastering skills to apply for my ownsafety. During the PADI Divemaster course, I learnt professionalism, responsibility and leadership and most of all – that it’s a lifestyle!
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to my PADI Instructor, Dong Pyo Lee and to all the staff at Aqua Marine Dive Centre for their excellent guidance and professionalism”.
Congratulations Felix Daun – winner for October 2013!
The Live the Diving Dream contest is open to anyone who completes the PADI Divemaster course in the PADI Asia Pacific territory from July to December 2013. Now with less than 2 months to enter – encourage you divers to tell us what they enjoyed about the PADI Divemaster course and they will gain a chance to win one of six Apple iPads!
The winner for the month of October is Felix Daun from Singapore who completed his PADI Divemaster course with The Dive Company, a PADI Dive Centre in Singapore. Felix’s entry in the Live The Diving Dream contest expressed the positive attitude of a PADI Divemaster.
“The best part of being a PADI Divemaster is that weeks after a dive trip, or after assisting in a course, the students and other divers come back to see me and keep in touch.
Meeting new people who are interested in the same activity as you and to see how they get fascinated by the same things as yourself – is the greatest feeling about being a PADI Divemaster.
I regularly enjoyed meeting up with divers and seeing them return to the dive shop – or on dive trips. I have made many new friends during my PADI Divemaster course.”
November marks the fifth month of Live The Diving Dream contest. To date, four new PADI Divemasters have won an Apple iPad.
Previous monthly winners were Phil Voss from Singapore in July, Ellie Davidson from Exmouth, W.A. in August and Oliver Furlow from Thailand in September.
There’s still time for your divers to enter the Live the Diving Dream contest. They simply need to complete the PADI Divemaster course from July to December 2013 in the PADI Asia Pacific territory – then tell us what they enjoyed about it – for their chance to win an Apple iPad!
Monthly prizes of an Apple iPad will be awarded through to the end of 2013.
