Faster Download Digital Certification Pak Now Available

3 Mar

The Open Water Diver Digital Certification Pak – Offline (English), product #60460-1, has been enhanced to accommodate users with limited internet connectivity. This independent study pak comes with two download options: 1) the PADI Open Water Diver Touch™, a single large file with integrated videos, and 2) a digital PADI Open Water Diver Manual, which has embedded quizzes and exams in addition to the Knowledge Reviews that can be stored and uploaded whenever the user connects to the internet. Student divers continue to have access to digital versions of the Recreational Dive Planner (RDP) table and eRDPML™. The PADI Open Water Diver Video is also now available separately from the high resolution Touch version, and can be downloaded in six separate low-resolution files (including the Introduction and five sections).

Student divers have the option to download either version of the Digital Certification Pak – Offline training materials based on their connectivity and device storage capacity. Because the file size of the separate videos and manual is smaller, the files download quickly even with a slow internet connection. In addition, users can download the files individually or all at once, offering even more flexibility when accessing training materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the main differences between the two versions of this product?
A:
The Open Water Diver Touch, which contains integrated high-resolution videos, must be downloaded as one file and this is best achieved with a fast internet connection. The smaller, separate-file option is comprised of the Open Water Diver Manual file and the six compressed Open Water Diver Video files. Student divers may download one video at a time or all six at once (internet bandwidth/time allowing).

Q: How does a student diver purchase this product?
A:
After registering for the Open Water Diver Digital Certification Pak – Offline and logging in to the PADI Library App, new and existing student divers have access to both versions, and see these 12 folios::

  • Start Hereinstructions on how to begin
  • PADI Open Water Diver Touch (high-resolution file)
  • PADI Open Water Diver Manual
  • PADI Open Water Diver Video – Introduction (low-resolution file)
  • PADI Open Water Diver Video – Section 1 (low-resolution file)
  • PADI Open Water Diver Video – Section 2 (low-resolution file)
  • PADI Open Water Diver Video – Section 3 (low-resolution file)
  • PADI Open Water Diver Video – Section 4 (low-resolution file)
  • PADI Open Water Diver Video – Section 5 (low-resolution file)
  • eRDPML (digital version)
  • RDP Table metric (digital version)
  • RDP Table imperial (digital version)

Q: Are there instructions explaining how to access the manual and low-resolution videos?
A:
Yes. The second confirmation email sent to student divers, which includes instructions on accessing the product, also includes information regarding the two options. The Start Here folio provides simple step-by-step instructions on how to begin. In addition, at the beginning of the digital manual there is also information regarding the option of streaming or downloading video files.

Q: Can a student start one version of this product (high- or low-resolution version) and switch between the versions without losing any work?
A:
Yes, but once a version is selected, it’s recommended the student remain with the initial choice throughout training. However, if a student does switch, the Knowledge Reviews, Quizzes and Exam scores will carry over to the eRecord as long as the student completed and submitted the results.

Q: How soon will this low-resolution option be available in other languages?
A:
Expect to see rollout of translated materials in several languages in third quarter 2017.

PADI ReActivate™ Now Available in More Languages

21 Mar

ReActivate_header_Chair_600x2501

Great PADI ReActivate™ News – English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian languages are now available with more languages coming soon. This great product is meant as a useful tool for instructors to get inactive divers back in the water as happy divers.

So what does this mean for you?

How often do you find yourself conducting guided dives with divers who are a little rusty? Even though they have not booked time with a PADI Divemaster, during the dive you help them polish their buoyancy skills and remind them of some key concepts.

Wouldn’t it be great if they came to you with updated knowledge and an expectation of diving with a PADI Divemaster or Instructor and improving their skill level?

Well now you can make this happen with ReActivate in 5 languages, with more languages coming soon.

When the diver books with you, ask them when their last scuba dive was and offer them a ReActivate should they want to refresh their skills. They can start ReActivate at home so when they get to you they just need to go diving.

Simply put, the best way to ReActivate diving skills is to get in the water and dive, rather than having to make time for a confined water session. After the diver has completed the short Academic session there are only few mandatory skills and then the rest of the skills are prescriptive.

Using this great Touch product, Reactivate, means they don’t have to participate in any lengthy classroom sessions, creating more time to go diving.

You just need to select an initial dive site that is going to provide a nice safe environment to blow away the cobwebs.

Some useful tips:

  • When redeeming the code, you will need to select a language option.
  • ReActivate Product No. 71926-1
  • ReActivate Marketing tools – Visit & download the ReActivate Marketing information on PADI Pros’ Site > Toolbox > Marketing > PADI Re-Activate.

Do divers want this product?

A recent PADI survey asked divers what would get them back in the water if they had not been diving for a while. Two popular responses were: “a refresher course that I can complete quickly” and “a prescriptive approach that refreshes only what I’ve forgotten.”

PADI has created a great product alongside an incredible program to get YOUR divers back into YOUR shop.

Provide them the opportunity to ReActivate. Once the diver had finished ReActivate, the instructor will register the program and the diver will receive a new certification card at the present certification level with a ReActivate remark in the bottom of the card.

How do I get this product?

You can purchase ReActivate on the Online Shopping cart on the PADI Pros’ site or you can contact PADI’s Sales Support team on training-sales@padi.com.au to purchase the ReActivate Touch manual that comes as a code you will provide to your customer.

Is there any credit in it for the instructor?

Yes, actually there is. You will receive credit for one Open Water Diver certification for every five ReActivate programs completed with divers. This is in line with the system that is well known from Discover Scuba Diving credits.

Tools for Reference

25 Jan

Ever wondered what goes on the cockpit of a commercial flight before take-off? Yes, you guessed it, a checklist. The Captain and First Officer go through the checklist making sure that all systems are ready to go and in working condition.  Why do they have to?  This is to ensure they covered all safety aspects, comfort and eliminating unnecessary debacles during flight.

This is much like us as PADI Professionals. People come to us to experience adventure, they understand the risk they are taking and are depending on us to keep them safe and teach them fully to become competent divers.

Check-the-instructor-development-course-calendar-com

As the world’s leader in diving, PADI knows your needs to have such a tool to ease your work and responsibilities is important. Hence, the available slates in the teaching tools list.  The necessary slates are given to you during your PADI Professional Courses.  These slates are not just to help you pass the Course, it is there to be part of your career and helping you conduct your day to day activities.

If you are a PADI Divemaster, giving a briefing for a dive is second nature. Yes, we commonly by-heart the whole briefing and need no reference.  However, there are times that you might have forgotten something either because something distracted you or a bad hair day.  When this happens, there is a possibility that the info missed could jeopardize the Divers’ safety.  Definitely that’s not what you want but think of the drama that can unfold.  Not only that, think about the litigation consequences.

NEW60194_M

What about Instructors? “Hmm…. I have done 1,000 students and memorised all needs to be done in Confined Water Training and Open Water Training Dives.  I don’t need the extra weight on my bag or my BDC.”  Well, same scenario, something distracted you or a bad hair day and you forgot to run the simple “snorkel for regulator exchange” drill in the PADI Open Water Diver Course?  Though simple, skills such as these are important that Student Divers learns for their safety. Again, think about the consequences and like the scenario above, the possible litigations.

The Key Point to remember is, we are human beings and we make mistakes, so lets us all try our best to eliminate unnecessary mistakes by using checklist or in our case as PADI Professionals slates that are readily available. To refresh your memory of what are the slates available, please check out the latest 2016 Pricelist and online shopping cart or speak with PADI Training & Sales Consultants or your Regional Managers.
