If you have a student who’s having trouble receiving the registration email from PADI for their eLearning, Touch, etc. below is an alternate way for them to access their digital product.

Email your customer the link below along with their access code from your Online Processing Center.

  • Ask the student to open this link using Firefox or Chrome (as opposed to Safari or a mobile browser).
  • Direct the student to complete the Sign Up for a PADI Account form on the right side of the screen.
  • If applicable: remind the student that each diver needs to use a separate email address. Two people cannot share an email.

Note: If your student already has a PADI Account, direct the student to log in using their email address and password.

What’s the difference between ReActivate Touch and Scuba Tune up eLearning?

11 Nov

111115 - Image 2How many times have you heard, “I’m a certified diver, but it’s been a little while since I was in the water”?

Have you asked yourself what a newly refreshed and active diver is actually worth to you and your PADI Dive Centre?

  • How much would you make from selling a new Mask, Snorkel & Fins?
  • How much could you earn from selling PADI Continuing Education Courses?
  • How about inviting them on a recreational Dive Trip to use their newly refreshed skills?

Now ask yourself what is the difference between ReActivate Touch and Scuba Tune up e-Learning?

ReActivate Touch

The ReActivate program includes the ReActivate Touch that you can download to your tablet or mobile device. Refreshing your diving knowledge has never been easier or more convenient. The PADI ReActivate program also:

  • Delivers cutting edge technology to re-educate you on fundamental scuba knowledge you may have forgotten since your last dive.
  • Offers a prescriptive approach to refresh skills you need or want to focus on. Your PADI Instructor will work with you to get you acclimated with gear set up and skills you’ll work on prior to jumping back into the water.
  • Includes a completion certificate for those who finish the academic portion and a PADI replacement card if you complete both academic and in-water skills with a PADI Instructor.

The best part is, divers who complete both the knowledge and in-water skill refresher receive a replacement certification card with a ReActivated date on it.

Your PADI certification does not expire.  Participation in PADI ReActivate™ is not mandatory, but recommended as an easy way to refresh your foundational scuba safety knowledge and skills if you haven’t been diving in a while.

111115 - Image 1  To assist you with your marketing efforts for PADI ReActivate and PADI Equipment Specialist Touch, there is a comprehensive marketing toolkit available on the PADI Pros’ Site in the Marketing Toolbox section. This marketing toolkit provides a full range of resources including website banners, social media collateral, email templates, digital brochures, images, consumer information, digital posters and much more.

PADI is also undertaking a targeted consumer campaign for PADI ReActivate (and PADI Equipment Specialist Touch) in November and December, so it’s a great time to make sure your PADI Dive Shop is effectively promoting these to benefit from this campaign.

How To: Buy and Use PADI eLearning or Touch codes

19 Oct

These step-by-step directions for using the new PADI Online Processing Center will cover:

  1. Sending codes to students
  2. Certifying students
  3. Creating default settings
  4. Re-Sending codes
  5. Hints tips and suggestions

Before we begin, there are a few things to note:

  • To send codes to your student(s), you must first purchase them from your Sales Consultant or from the PADI Pros’ site (click the red Shop Online button, and follow the steps to purchase).
  • Each student must have their own email address. Families cannot share one email.
  • The system will automatically time out after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Getting Started

olpc-overview

  1. Click the Assign Codes button from the home screen

All unassigned codes will be shown. If you’ve purchased a lot of codes, use the drop down menus along the top to filter for the code you want.

TIP: Filter by course (Open Water, Nitrox, etc) to easily find a code
The image below shows an example of filtering for Open Water codes.

olpc-update-assign-code

  1. Click the Assign Code button to transmit a course to a student.
  2. Input the student’s name, birthdate and email address.
Each student must have their own email address.

The looping animation below previews the steps of assigning a code.

padi_olpc_send_code_to_student

Oops?!? If you accidentally send a code to the wrong person, or misspell the student’s name, scroll down to the section Edit or Re-Assign a Code to find out what to do next.

Certifying Students

  1. To certify eLearning, Touch and ReActivate, students, start by clicking the Process / View Your Students button. If the student did not originate with you/your store then you can look them up by clicking the Search Codes button or via

Process / View Your Students

find-padi-elearning-student

  1. To find the student you’re ready to certify, you have a few options:
  • If the student originated with you: simply scroll through the list until you find their name, OR use the drop down menus to filter by course, assigned date, etc.
  • Use the PADI ID from the student’s certificate of completion to locate a student regardless of their initial shop or instructor affiliation.
  • Search for the student using their full name and birthdate (see looping animation below)

Search for a Student

padi_olpc_2_0_search_for_student

TIP: Find ReActivate students by filtering for the course-level they are ReActivating (ex. Advanced OW) or by filtering for Product Type: Touch.

  1. Once you find the student you’d like to certify click the Process button.
  2. Confirm the student information, and upload a photo.

The looping animation below previews the steps in processing a student.

olpc_2_0_process_student

  1. The last step is to add the instructor and class information.

At the end, you’ll have the option to email a temporary card to your student (exception: ReActivate students do not have the option for an email temp card at this time).

IMPORTANT! Do not use ala carte Online PICs to certify eLearning or Touch or ReActivate students.

Edit or Re-Send a Code

If you made an error when sending the code to a student, fear not! Here’s how to make changes.

  1. Click the Process / View Your Students button.
  2. The student(s) name will likely be at the top of the list. If you don’t see them, use the drop downs to filter for your student based on the course type, assigned date, etc.

re-send-code

  1. In the example above, the instructor has accidentally used the same email address for Luke and Anakin Skywalker. This won’t end well. As previously explained every student must use a different email address.
  2. The instructor contacts Anakin, explains the situation and asks him for a different email address. The instructor re-sends the eLearning course invite by clicking the Email button in the same row as his name, and typing in the new email address.

skywalker-resend

  1. The final step is to click Confirm.

You can also click the Remove button which will put the code back into your Available codes queue. It’s a complete “do over.”

re-send-code (1)

If the student has redeemed their code, you won’t be able to edit their name or email address. In the example above, the Skywalkers can be edited, the Redeemed Date shows “N/A” for both of them. Steve Zissou’s name and email cannot be edited as his course shows a redeemed date. That said, if Steve wanted his account to show “Steven” instead of “Steve” he has the ability to edit this information as part of the registration process.

Save Time, Create Default Settings

Create default settings so information will auto-populate based on instructor, course, etc. From the OLPC main screen, scroll down to the bottom and click My Preferences. Then, set up one or more default settings.

The looping animation below previews the process.

PADI eLearning – are you onboard yet?

16 Jan

eLearning

Connecting with PADI Dive Centres or Resorts is even easier for millions of prospective divers with the PADI eLearning™ system.

Initially launched in 2007 with the PADI Open Water Diver Course Online, there are currently nine PADI eLearning programs offered in as many as nine languages each. The PADI eLearning juggernaut continues to gain steam as enrollments are up more than 26 percent in 2012 as compared to the same time last year.

Benefits of PADI eLearning to Dive Centres and Resorts

  • You share revenue for student divers who affiliate with your business
  • Your customers have another option for fitting knowledge developement into their busy lives
  • Your new customers have received consistent education, equipment and experience promotions
  • New divers are delivered to your store

The goals of the PADI eLearning model are simple:

  • To increase entry-level diver enrolments by expanding dive centre business hours to 24/7
  • To drive new, enthusiastic student divers to the dive centre to fulfill not only their training completion needs, but also all of their diving needs
  • To help interest divers in more dive education, equipment and experiences

PADI’s eLearning model works one of three ways:

  1. PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can choose to place a link on their website that allows new student divers to sign up for online knowledge development learning. This automatically affiliates the diver with that store.
  2. Potential divers who find the eLearning link on padi.com will be prompted to first affiliate with a local PADI Dive Centre or Resort before continuing on to the eLearning site.
  3. PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can purchase eLearning gift passes for their students. These can be mailed directly to the divers which also automatically affiliates the diver with that store. This is very useful if you offer a package which includes the eLearning fee.

eLearning is all about convenience – the opportunity to begin and continue diver education beginning on the internet and continuing through PADI Dive Centres and Resorts. Through an interactive web-based program new students will read, hear and see the same material other student divers receive from interacting with the PADI Manuals, Video or Multimedia.

After enrolling, PADI’s eLearning system presents the student with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes allow them to gauge their progress, and review and correct anything they might happen to miss. It lets them move through the program efficiently and at their own pace.

One of the most talked about benefits of PADI eLearning is how easy it is for PADI Members to offer the program. PADI has developed a set up program simple enough that anyone familiar with a keyboard and computer could easily navigate.

An outline to the basics of this program is available to PADI Retail & Resort Association Members on the PADI Pros site, including:

  • How PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can prepare to welcome eLearners into their business
  • What the eLearner experiences
  • How PADI Dive Centres and Resorts can integrate eLearning into their current training programs
  • What tools are available to help PADI Dive Centres and Resorts communicate with eLearners along with answers to other important questions on eLearning.

PADI Retail and Resort Association Members can get started by logging on to the PADI Pros site at padi.com and following the simple step-by-step instructions.

PADI Instructors can also be involved in the eLearning program.
